Commercial Users

BAWSCA offers several programs targeted at non-residential account types such as businesses and schools:

Toilets

BAWSCA’s High-Efficiency Toilet (HET) Direct Install Program
This program targets commercial properties with direct installation of HETs.

toilet

What are HETs? HETs are modern efficient toilets designed to use at least 20 percent less water than standard low flow toilets.  Although they use less water, they perform well.

To qualify for this program, your water provider must be a BAWSCA member agency that is participating in the program. For the current list of participating BAWSCA agencies for FY 2006/07 click here (link to PDF document—document coming soon).

Additionally, your property must be a commercial business or institutional account such as a school; single-family residential homes do not qualify for this program.

For more information on this program or to apply, please contact Benjamin Pink at the BAWSCA office at 650-349-3000.

Commercial Clothes Washers

BAWSCA’s High Efficiency Commercial Clothes Washer Rebate Programcommercial washer
Starting in July 2007, BAWSCA will join an existing energy rebate program being implemented by PG&E. BAWSCA will join the program to offer a water rebate in addition to the energy rebate in participating agencies service areas.

This program is designed to encourage the replacement of inefficient, top-loading washers in commercial settings with more efficient washers. Efficient washers use less electricity, substantially less water and, by extension, less gas to heat the water along with reduced flows to sewer. Consequently, these efficient washers have the potential to reduce combined utility costs by as much as 50%.

Participating BAWSCA member agencies will offer a water rebate of $220 in addition to the $130 offered by PG&E.

To qualify for a rebate, the commercial washer must:

  • Be installed in PG&E territory
  • Be purchased or leased after August 30, 2006 and prior to September 30, 2008 or until funds are depleted.
  • Be installed in non-single-family facilities such as laundromats, multi-family housing laundry areas, student housing, and hotels or motels.
  • New washers must be replacing a less efficient model.
  • New washers must be on the Consortium for Energy Efficiency Qualifying Product List.

Outdoor Applications

BAWSCA’s Large Landscape Audit Program
This BAWSCA program is implemented through participating BAWSCA member agencies; BAWSCA does not offer the program directly to business or individuals.

The Large Landscape Audit Program offers is a “turn-key” program that enables the participating BAWSCA agency to meet the requirements of the California Urban Water Conservation Council’s Best Management Practice (BMP) #5 in a cost-effective manner.

The program offers services for the development and monthly distribution of landscape water budgets for selected accounts and actual large landscape surveys to assess landscape watering needs.  A key component of the program is ongoing monitoring/tracking of actual water use and estimated water savings for the sites surveyed.

For more information about this program, please contact Benjamin Pink at the BAWSCA office at 650-349-3000.
